Employee Assistance Programs

Some clients are referred to me through their EAP programs provided by their employers. With these clients, I use Solution Focus skills to identify times in the past that overcome similar situations like what they are experiencing now and use those skills again for their current stress. Also, we examine what they would like to change in their life and build the bridge from where they are now to where they want to be.

I believe that we all go through things in life.  I work with adults, adolescents, and couples who are going through divorce, death/loss, financial issues, relationship issues, traumatic events, abuse, or deployment/transitional issues.  As a former military spouse, I also have experience with military life and the demands of the military lifestyle on individuals and their families.  As a counselor with 9 years of experience, I have worked with clients with depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem issues, work related issues, relationship issues, and various life changing issues.  Sometimes we just need some support during our difficult times to help us cope and find the silver lining. I enjoy supporting clients during their stressful events in life to help them find Hope, Healing, Empowerment, and Enrichment.

I have experience with adults and adolescents using the following techniques:

- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Eye-Movement Desensitization and
   Reprocessing (EMDR)

- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Motivational Interviewing
- Solution Focus Therapy

Adults

I work with adults on various issues- like depression, anxiety, stress management, grief/loss, divorce recovery, physical/verbal/sexual abuse, low self-esteem, preparing for major job related exams, and job related stress.  It is my goal to build hope, to support clients in their healing process, to teach client's to feel more empowered in their lives, and to provide skills that will enrich their life.

Adolescents

Adolescents experience a lot of stress in their life from test anxiety, social anxiety, bullying, military life transitions, parents divorcing, low self-esteem, and difficulties with identity.  I work with teens with depression, anxiety, anger, and self-harm issues.  With adolescents, I work on building their identity and self-esteem while teaching the emotion regulation and healthy ways to cope to stress.

Couples

Sometimes couples find themselves in negative cycles of communication and interactions with each other and are unable to resolve issues on their own. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, couples begin to connect and to improve emotional attachment. This will increase communication, secuity, intimacy, and emotional understanding between partners. Couples begin to heal from infidelity, pornography, communication issues, growing apart, parenting differences, blended families, and financial issues.
